WE WORK:

• On the hillsides of Burma, where 54 metric tons of coffee were exported to international specialty markets, and 5,000 small farmers were trained in production methods that could help them earn twice as much for their Arabica beans.
• In the landscapes of Cambodia, where Winrock improved the conservation and governance of 1.3 million hectares of land and trained 37,000 in improved forest management.
• In the classrooms of Liberia, where the number of children working in hazardous jobs in Winrock project areas plummeted from 74 percent to 19 percent in three years.
• In the nation of Guyana, which has earned over $200 million dollars from Norway for the greenhouse gas emissions it has reduced, thanks to a program Winrock helped pioneer.
• Throughout Arkansas and the Delta region, where Winrock has helped launch more than 100 new startups, created 750 new jobs and spurred investments of over $325 million.

HOW WE WORK

Winrock pledges to achieve its mission by maintaining the highest of standards and a values-driven culture.

Mission

Winrock International’s mission is to empower the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity and sustain natural resources. It is central not only to what we do, but how we do it.

Winrock has a reputation of delivering excellence to the communities and people we serve around the globe. Both our Core Values and our Code of Conduct support how our people deliver on our mission. They provide a strategic and coordinated approach to how we work.

Our Core Values are the basis upon which our business and behavior are based, and our Code of Conduct serves as a collection of guiding principles that are an extension of our mission. The Code dictates how we conduct ourselves in performing the important work we do, and provides resources to help us make good, informed decisions and act on those decisions with integrity.

We take pride in living our Values and the principles of our Code in every interaction we have with beneficiaries, funders, subcontractors, vendors, and colleagues.

WHERE WE WORK

From the United States to communities across Asia, Latin America and Africa, Winrock is building a more inclusive and sustainable world for all.

IMPACT AREAS

  • Agriculture: helping farmers adapt to a changing climate and improving reliable access to nutritious food. In Nepal, 54,000 small producers (four-fifths of them women) more than doubled their annual incomes producing off-season vegetables, and raising goats, fish and poultry.
  • Economic Development: training entrepreneurs and workers, providing access to finance and markets, with a particular focus on opportunities for young people. Working with Kenya’s government, Winrock helped almost 100,000 youth obtain identification cards, allowing them to apply for training programs, jobs and loans.
  • Energy and Environment: promoting clean energy, forestry, access to water and sustainable management of natural resources. In Tanzania alone, our integrated approach to water management has increased wateraccess for nearly 200,000 people.
  • Human and Social Capital: eliminating child labor and human trafficking, improving education and gender equality, and strengthening civil institutions. In Bangladesh, a mass media campaign to counter trafficking in persons reached almost three and a half million people, and 4,105 migrants were trained on safe migration.

WINROCK INITIATIVES

  • American Carbon Registry (ACR): The first voluntary greenhouse gas registry in the world and a pioneer in harnessing the power of the market to protect the environment, ACR has issued over 100 million metric
tons of carbon offset credits, the equivalent of removing over 21 million cars from the world’s highways for a year.
  • Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub: This nationally recognized program empowers entrepreneurs and makers with tools, technology, equipment, support and community. In 2016, it launched the Delta I-Fund, which is already funneling more than $2.25 million to entrepreneurs across the eight-state Delta region.
