Job Description

VCF is seeking a Program Coordinator who will be responsible for maintaining strong partner relations with the hospitals in HCMC and the South, NGOs, civil society organizations and work to implement the Mr. Sun Program through participant and coordination at the different hospitals as appropriate. The Coordinator will be the key contact person for partner organizations for Mr. Sun program’s programmatic aspects. The Coordinator will possess first-hand working experience, skills, and knowledge of patient case management. The Coordinator will support and facilitate the cases of multiple young patients in the hospital environment, work with hospital staff from the selection process of ‘who receives assistance’ to hospital discharge, and at-home follow-up. The Coordinator is the interface between Mr. Sun’s intention to bring holistic assistance to poor children with cancer and their families and implement that passion. Good communication and record-keeping skills are required and a compassionate heart to work successfully with patients, families, doctors, nurses, hospital office staff, and other resource networks.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the implementation of Mr. Sun at the hospitals, focusing on local cancer patient activities.
  • Work closely with hospitals and patients to provide assistance and counseling about the Mr. Sun program in selecting the sponsored children with cancer, meeting with patients and their families to understand their medical, financial, and emotional support needs.
  • Serve as liaison between hospital and patient’s families to assist parents and collaborate with other health professionals/providers to ensure that healing is as successful as possible.
  • Ensures that all efforts are equitable, inclusive, and support diversity
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and national funding agencies.
  • Monitor and track partners, agencies, and volunteer activities and implementation.
  • Able to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands
  • Participate in training and VCF team meetings.
  • Assist Program Manager and Mr. Sun team as required and help with other employer assigned tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned, such as do translations of documents, assist with administrative, general office management, and public relations efforts.

 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in medicine, pharmacy, public health, or related fields is a standard requirement. Advanced degrees are sometimes preferred.
  • Two years of experience is required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential
  • Must possess the ability to communicate with a wide range of people to create and maintain a positive image of Mr. Sun Program. Must be able to work with others at all levels within the organization, working closely with partners to accomplish goals.
  • The Coordinator must be mature and have a compassionate heart. It is a top priority to succeed in this position. Dedication, perceptiveness, and commitment to discern and fill in the gaps of services and being a problem solver are required.
  • Willing to travel within HCMC as well as in the southern part of Vietnam to coordinate and implement the Mr. Sun program
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively; Identifies and resolves problems in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) and Fluent in English and Vietnamese.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively one to one and within a group, delivering engaging, informative, well-organized, and instructive information.
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with cross-content and cross-disciplinary staff.
  • Have good skills in Microsoft Office Suite, computers, or technology.
